Hike the W Trek in Torres del Paine, Patagonia — Upgraded

A Small Group W Trek Adventure Staying at the Famous Patagonia Ecocamps

Patagonia’s most iconic trek, with a softer landing at the end of every day.

We’ve taken the classic W Trek in Torres del Paine National Park and upgraded the experience from the ground up. You’ll get every bit of the challenge — the French Valley, the Gray Glacier, and the legendary hike to the Base of the Towers — but instead of roughing it in a tent every night, you’ll spend your rest days at the world-famous Ecocamp Patagonia, the world’s first geodesic dome hotel. Think real beds, warm showers, a heated communal dome with a bar, and daily yoga classes to stretch out after a long day on the trail.

This small group adventure is built for hikers who want the full W Trek experience without sacrificing comfort: fully guided hikes with local park experts, all meals included (with Chilean wine at dinner), luggage support, and a pre-trip training plan to get you ready for the terrain. It’s Patagonia’s toughest and most beautiful trail, done the right way.

What People Are Saying...

  • Adventuredesk has been my go-to partner for all our adventure travel trips. They have helped us with two amazing trips and we have four more on the calendar for 2024. Matt has helped us from brainstorming and planning sessions, building out the trips to sales support to our community. One of the things I value most is his communication and quick response time. He is easy to get a hold of to answer questions and provide us with whatever we need. Matt and Adventuredesk will be planning all our trips moving forward!! Thank you, Matt!!

Overall a great trip, however there were some excursions that could have been omitted and the itinerary was too jam packed, there was no downtime for people to rest and do their own thing. Also there was some minsformation communicated before the trip. It was indicated that there would be banks/atms and places would accept credit/debit but it turned out 95% of the places only took cash and if you did not bring enough cash, it would've been difficult to buy food/tip and purchase other goods. Very few atm's took canadian debit cards. The spa was a waste of a day, more time could've been spent in Quito.

The trip to Andalucia was great. Christina was a wonderful guide. Knowledgeable and calm, clear instructions. Knowledge of nice places to eat and visit. Good leader. Susan was a fabulous hike leader and took us to a good restaurant. Knowledge of floral and fauna and customs. Thanks to Matt for staying on top of things. Hotel rooms and recording flights etc. The hotels were great. One hotel has hard beds Seville I think. Otherwise comfortable. Good trip

  • We had a great experience working with Adventuredesk to help plan our dream wedding trip to Tanzania. From the Mt. Kilimanjaro hike, going on safari, and having a small ceremony in Zanzibar - we cannot thank Adventuredesk enough for their planning, listening to what we wanted, putting together an itinerary that was both adventurous and relaxing, connecting us with guides who were knowledgable, kind, and have since become friends, always being willing to answer questions and very responsive. Special thanks to Matt Kinch who we worked with directly.

The team at Adventuredesk helped me to organise a trip to Qubec for a Spartan Race for myself and clients at the gym. Their service was quick and efficient, organising both accomodation and additional activities around the race such as whitewater rafting and a Scandinavian Spa day. Assistance was provided whenever needed also. Overall I cannot recommend Adventuredesk enough for any of your travel needs.

Day 3 - Torres del Paine - Hiking the French Valley (25KM / 15 Miles)

We'll start with a filling breakfast and then drive towards Pudeto dock where we will board the catamaran to Pehoe. From here, we'll begin the challenging trek to Valle Frances (French Valley) along a steep trail that leads to the very heart of the Paine Massif. How far in we go depends on our group's trekking rhythm. A swifter walk will lead us to the hanging bridge over the French River, located at the foot of the southeastern face of the Massif, where we will be treated to fantastic views of the valley. We'll keep heading towards the upper section of the valley where we will be able to marvel at the extensive mass of the valley's geological formations. After our upward trek, we'll pause for a picnic and relax next to the stunning views. This day's trek will end as we descend through an undulating terrain of mixed grassland and light forest, leading us  to Refugio Paine Grande which is located on the peaceful shores of Lake Pehoe.

Elevation gain: 663 m. / 2175 ft  Accommodation: Camping or Dorms, Paine Grande Meals Included: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Gray Glacier Trek - (11 KM / 6.8 Miles)

In the morning, we'll hike from Paine Grande Refugio along the shores of Lake Pehoe to the northern side of the glacially beautiful Lake Grey ("Lago Grey").  We'll feast on a picnic lunch before boarding the boat that sails right to the facade of Glacier Grey. Take in the unreal views of this beautiful glacier, while sipping on a drink stocked with fresh glacier ice.  After finishing our boat ride, we'll take a transfer to EcoCamp.

Elevation gain: 836 m./2742 ft Accommodation: Ecocamps Meals Included: Breakfast, boxed lunch and dinner

Day 5: Torres del Paine - Base of the Towers Trek (22 KM / 14 Miles)

The goal of our fourth day will be to complete the most famous trekking trail in Torres del Paine National Park! It's a challenge, but definitely worth it! We'll walk from the campsite towards Hotel Las Torres before ascending to Ascencio Valley on the Tower's eastern face. Mountain ridges, beech forests, and small rivers line the scenic walk towards the valley. Our big challenge is the steep moraine, a huge mass of boulders which leads us to that iconic base-view of the Towers, three gigantic granite monoliths that are the remains of a great cirque sheared away by glacial ice. After a tough uphill climb, the Towers eventually come into full view, rising majestically before us with the glacial lake visible below - the place is known as Mirador las Torres. Is there any better place in the world to have lunch? After feasting next to this beautiful view, we'll backtrack along the same trail through Ascencio Valley and return to EcoCamp for a well-deserved dinner and a glass of Chilean wine.

Elevation gain: 796 m./2611 ft  Accommodation: Ecocamps Meals included: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch and Dinner
